One area that sticks out more than anything else is how much building and manufacturing is happening. I’ve never seen so much heavy equipment in one area before. There are cranes, trucks, diggers, rollers and work crews in action everywhere. I even got to visit a factory that belongs to a family friend that makes bolts and other metal items for manufacturing companies. It was completely modern with a huge 500-ton hydraulic press in the center of a warehouse surrounded by lathes operated by laborers. One was making rollers for laser printers; another was drilling holes into foundation plates. It was fascinating! Along to go with all that was the sound of electric motors and the smell of machine oil.
